Resumo:
In some cases of cataract surgery with aniridia or iris coloboma, namely traumatic or surgical induced, it is necessary to implant an artificial iris to avoid fotophobia and diplopia.The authors present various surgical situations that needed different types of aniridia implants, such as, capsular tension ring with diaphragm and intra-ocular lens with diaphragm.
Facing the satisfactory functional and aesthetics results, they conclude that those artificial iris are a good option to certain cases of simultaneous cataract and aniridia surgery, nevertheless the difficulties of manipulation of those implants.
